Well today is Father's Day.

I am so proud to have 3 children. The oldest gave me a special gift; not only a mug to drink my morning cup-o-joe...but also a list of words that she thinks describe me best. Boy...when your 7 year old puts in writing how they see you through their eyes...it means more than anything in the world.

I was moved when I noticed that the top star on the paper had the word Godly in it. Although I know that is not how I always am...it is good to know that she sees me that way. I want to be Godly. I learned today that my children may not see me as I really am; but they see the best in me, they see my potential, they see me as I should be.

I am so thankful that the qualities on this sheet are the same I would assign to my father. Jack Ellerbrook is a true man of integrity and model of Jesus Christ. He gave his whole life for his family....and for that I will always be thankful.

Today was a good day. I love the mug my princess gave me (#1 Dad). I am glad she thinks so. But as long as I drink out of it....it will be hard not to think I am drinking out of my Pop's mug!

Thanks Dad...for being my friend, my example (and next to Mom:o) my biggest fan on earth! I love you!

John Thomas Ellerbrook 1/5/09

What a blessing.  John Thomas Ellerbrook joined our family on Monday, January 5, 2009 at 8:18 Pm.  He entered the world weighing 7.2 lbs and measuring 20 3/4 inches long.  We arrived at the hospital at 6:30 Pm on a rainy, cold night and at 8:18 Pm everything changed to sunshine and warm as we welcomed our third child into the world.  Leslie and the baby are both doing very well!  We look forward to teaching him that Jesus Christ created him, loves him and has a plan for him.  I hope by the time he can understand, Rebecca and Jack will be teaching him this as well.  We are so thankful.  God gives, and he takes away and in all times we give him the praise.  John Thomas belongs to the Lord...but for the time...we are thankful He put him in our care!
